Ashy Wood Swallow


Ashy Wood Swallow (Artamus fuscus) is a stocky bird that can be seen perched side by side on power lines in small groups. It has a short curve bill, a short tail and long wings.





It has a short curve bill, a short tail and long wings. Its upper part is ashy grey, head is darker and a narrow pale band on the rump. Under side is light grey and the tail tipped in white. Sexes are undistinguishable. They are among few perching birds that have special feathers called powder down that break up into fine dust that is spread by the birds onto their body when preening
