SPIDER ENGINEERING

SPIDER ENGINEERING

Spider uses a free-hanging rock to anchor her web. This photo was posted with a comment by an entomologist, who explained it was not how things may have started: "This is not as uncommon as you think. Basically, the spider is looking for good anchor points. It pulls on all the lines to check for stability as it's making the web. As far as it knows that line is attached to the ground. That rock is just heavy enough to keep the line taut but not so light the spider would pull it all the way up."
