Grey Headed Flycatcher






Grey Headed Flycatcher  (Culicicapa ceylonensis) is another beautiful small sub species of birds residing in Sri Lanka. This bird has canary yellow under parts. It has a of slight grey  crest and  hood. They can be seen in pairs looking for prey in under growths.  Both sexes look similar. They inhabits forests or gardens with plenty of shady trees.

The breeding season is from February to May and female alone builds the nest. The nest is  cup shape, bound by cobwebs and covered by moss and placed on tree trunk or a rock. Three to four eggs are found in a nest.
